a day on my own
after plans had cancelled for tuesday, i finally got a day all to myself. finally. something i've been waiting for. and it wasn't used to catch up on house choirs or errands to run. it was a day i could custom design towards my own needs.
after dropping chaeli off at daycare (for half day only as my parents were to pick her up after lunch), i went to the gym to burn off my muscles and cardio for two full hours.
afterwards, i went to the mall and did some boxing week shopping and lunch.
the movie theatre was right in the mall. i asked myself, "should i?"
it's not that i have any qualms about seeing a movie alone. i'm pretty sure i've done it before but i rarely get the opportunity to.
so i thought to myself, "what the hell?"
and so. i did.
i went to see, twilight!
regardless of how poorly written the book was, i was interested in seeing the movie. some mentioned that the books were good brain-candy but i've come to the conclusion that i don't do well with brain-candy as i do with eye-candy. since movies only take up a couple of hours. if a book is going to consume at least a few days, i would rather most of my readings be more then just 'brain-candy.' that's just me, though. i can understand the appeal of reading a book that just takes one away from reality for a bit.
anyway, you know how most people always like the book way better then the movie? at the least, they might say that the book and movie are at par with one another?
well, i happen to like the movie way better then the book. i was actually very surprised. they did a great job in casting and i think that helped right off the bat.
bella was very much less annoying and i can see why the ladies, both young and old, are swooning after edward (the actor doesn't appeal to me outside of the edward cullen role, though). however, dr. carlisle was the vampire that caught my eye. yowza! whom, by the way, would have made an excellent lestat over tom cruise in interview with the vampire.
it was a good two hours, i thought. not an oscar-winning movie but definitely one that will make me interested enought to see, new moon, when it comes out. especially since i thought jacob was portrayed so well in the twilight movie.

But I don't know about that baseball scene. Haven't seen the movie but I think the whole premise of vampires playing baseball, well, rather, unromanticizes them, doesn't it? And these particular vampires are, in my opinion, seriously in need of more romanticizing. They were further unromanticized by driving jeeps and going to high school. But apparently, I'm the only one who feels this way.
in the book, the baseball scene didn't work in their favour as far as romantisizing them. but on the big screen, it actually, to me at least, helped. i think because it showed a level of grace and predatorial skill (which i find sexy). anyway, if you see the movie, let me know what you think!
I'm looking forward to the movie and I will definitely let you know. It seems you and I have very similar tastes on such things.
